Summer Art Programs for All Ages
The Art Workshop Inc. offers a variety of summer art programs in the North Seattle, Everett, and Marysville areas.
The Following listings are descriptions of the programs offered and the contact information for each program:
Art Explorations in Nautical, Nature, and Marine Science
Presented by: The Art Workshop Inc. for Mukilteo Parks and Recreation
Thisram for kids interested in learning about our local environment through art projects and guided tours. We will explore the different eco-systems of the Mukilteo waterfront and recreate our discoveries in the art studio. Each week of camp participants will take walking fields trips to local sites such as visiting the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration building), Lighthouse Park beach area, or the Mukilteo Lighthouse.


NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration):
Participants will visit scientists who rear marine and anadromous fish for a range of studies. Unique features of the Mukilteo facility include a high-quality seawater system for fish rearing and marine species studies; an algae and zooplankton culture laboratory; and specialized laboratories and equipment for studies on the fate and effects of toxic substance. On Location: sketch live creatures from deep beneath the Sound! In the Studio: create a sculpture of marine life sketch.

Mukilteo Beach Watchers:
Visit Lighthouse Park beach area and learn from our Mukilteo Beach Watchers about the creatures, landscape, and natural resources so that we can better protect this priceless heritage. On Location: Sketch marine and life found on the beach during low tide. In Studio: Create cartoon characters depicting the marine and wildlife from sketches. Example: Plankton from the Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon series.

Mukilteo Lighthouse Tour: The 38-foot Mukilteo Lighthouse has been telling captains where their ships 1906. Learn about the history surrounding the Lighthouse and how a Lighthouse works. On Location: Draw various aspects of the Lighthouse's Victorian architecture and gardens. In Studio: Paint drawings in watercolor.

Other Activities: On the non-tour days participants will have an opportunity to experience a variety of art adventures including landscape paintings on canvas from scenes of the Possession Sound, botanical art, and printmaking.

Explore sweeping savannas, big snarling cats, thundering herds of elephant and wildebeest through art! Campers will create
paintings, sculptures, and drawings of wildlife, landscape, and cultural art of the African continent.
Week: June 23-26 (not 27) 9:00-11:00 am Grades 1-9

Art Exploration to the ends of the Earth- The Arctic!
Join us for an art filled expedition learning about the art, people, culture, climate, and wildlife of the Arctic region. Explorer will create Inuit Art Sculptures, the Tyara Maskette (Paleo-Eskimo Art), Eskimo Scrimshaw Art, Painting and Drawing.
Week July 14-18, 12:30-2:00 pm. Grades 1-9

Cartooning and Animation Workshop
Cartooning: Learn to draw your favorite cartoon characters and create your own comic strips!
Animation: Development of character in 2D & 3D, creating flip books, designing story boards and more!
Week: July 21-25 (not 23) 9:00-11:00 am. Grades 1-9

Sculpting Workshop

Learn to sculpt in many ways! Projects include: Sculpting in clay, assemblage, mobiles, and kinetic mobiles and more!
Week: August 11-13, 15. 12:30-2:30 pm. Grades 1-9
